To see is to be inspired.
True inspiration comes from seeing things like this that are so visually appealing that they feel like magic. The example shown above is contemporary art supported by amazing engineering.
Reminiscent of the Aurora Borealis, this is an aerial sculpture created for a one-night event at the Adobe Max conference I attended in San Diego, CA earlier this month.
The artist is Janet Echelman, and more of these amazing works can be seen at her website. She has exhibited her sky sculptures all over the world, some of them finding permanent homes by being anchored to the cores of tall buildings.
The pieces are made of ‘string-like’ strands woven into large sculptures that move with the wind and change colours with the help of lighting. Janet told us her story at a keynote presentation – she was originally inspired by seeing the nets of fishermen on the beach in India, leading her to think about creating moving sculptures out of them!
